June 2015 World Heritage Watch organized the International NGO Conference \u201cThe World Heritage and the Role of Civil Society\u201d in Bonn, Germany. It followed the first NGO Forum on World Heritage 2012 in St.Petersburg.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-ge852c9\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-ge852c9 gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><h4 class=\"gutentor-text\"><strong>The objectives of the conference were:<\/strong><\/h4><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g2e54b3\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e7 section-g2e54b3 gutentor-element gutentor-element-list\"><ul class=\"grid-row gutentor-grid-item-wrap list-indicator-icon\"><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-0\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">To review the situation of selected World Heritage sites from the perspective of civil society, particularly with regard to negative anthropogenic environmental influences.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-1\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">To inform the German and international public of the progress and challenges in implementing the World Heritage Convention from the perspective of civil society.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-2\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">To demonstrate the extent of the contributions of civil society for the protection of World Heritage.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-3\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">To formulate possibilities for the participation of civil society in implementing the World Heritage Convention.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-4\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">To take steps towards the formation of national and international civil society networks on World Heritage.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g49d70c\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-g49d70c gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><h4 class=\"gutentor-text\"><strong>Conference Concept<\/strong><\/h4><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g2b8b31\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-g2b8b31 gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><p class=\"gutentor-text\">The conference was attended by 115 representatives of civil society organizations and indigenous peoples from 33 countries. The participants came from all continents, covered all major problem areas of the world heritage, and took into account the whole range of different types of World Heritage sites.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-gc7cdf3\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-gc7cdf3 gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/world-heritage-watch.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WHW-Conference-Bonn.jpg\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g117f11\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-g117f11 gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><h4 class=\"gutentor-text\"><strong>List of Participants<\/strong><\/h4><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g8a55ac\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-g8a55ac gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><p class=\"gutentor-text\">In the presentations, the situation of 39 World Heritage sites were evaluated; in addition 9 presentations covered the general situation of world heritage sites, and 10 lectures presented the work of NGOs to the World Heritage in an overview.
